The backstop is a device that prevents reversal and supports the heavy objects from moving. Its main functions are: ① Supporting heavy objects for a long time (supporting function); ② Only allowing the mechanism to move in one direction to prevent reverse; ③ Allowing the mechanism to move freely in one direction and speed limiting in the reverse direction, that is, it acts as an overrunning clutch.
There are generally three types of backstops commonly used: ratchet type, roller type, and belt type. Now we will introduce the roller type and belt type.
1. The roller type backstop is a more complete one among all kinds of backstops. If the outer ring is fixed and the wheel core rotates in the direction of the arrow, the roller will roll to the small end of the wedge-shaped space under the action of friction. , The stopper acts as a backstop. If the outer ring reverses at a certain speed, the wheel core can rotate in the same direction as the outer ring, but the speed cannot exceed the outer ring. At this time, the stopper acts as a speed limiter. In order to generate a certain initial friction force, a spring is installed to keep the roller in contact with the outer ring.
2. When the inclined belt conveyor conveys materials upwards, if the motor is accidentally powered off and stops, under the effect of the material quality, the working branch will automatically slide down, causing an accident.Installing an automatic brake, ratchet or roller type backstop in the transmission mechanism can prevent this accident from happening, but the most commonly used is the belt type backstop.
The belt backstop is a belt that is exactly the same as the conveyor belt, one end is fixed on the frame, and the other end is freely placed on the inner side of the non-working branch of the conveyor driving roller, which is called a stop belt. The stop belt does not hinder the normal operation of the conveyor, but once the conveyor belt reverses, the stop belt will take the conveyor belt between the roller and the conveyor belt, and the friction force will stop the reversal of the roller and the conveyor belt.
