Overrunning clutch is a kind of clutch that can be automatically disengaged or engaged by the relative speed change of the main and driven parts, or the change of the rotation direction. It is mainly used for speed change, prevention of reverse rotation, and intermittent movement.According to the working principle, there are two types: pawl type and friction type.
The pawl-type overrunning clutch uses the engagement of the pawl to transmit torque. Its structure is simple, easy to manufacture, and highly reliable, but it has shock and noise when engaged, and is suitable for occasions where the speed difference is not large.
The friction type overrunning clutch uses the friction force generated by rollers, wedges, torsion springs, etc. to compress other components to transmit torque. It is small in size, large in transmission torque, smooth and noiseless, and has a short idle stroke. It has a wide range of applications due to poor bonding. The transmission torque range is 1-100000N·m, and the working speed generally does not exceed 3000r/min.
